I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, in these 10 years I have tried to develop my own style of guitar playing and performing, this involves progressive, atmospheric guitar sounds. Music has always been a passion of mine, so much so I decided to go to Leeds College of music to study both a BA in music and a Masters. I have performed in a number of bands in different genres such as rock, metal, jazz, funk and musical theatre. As well as performing I write music for short films from time to time. I have been in a few original bands "Lost In Winter and With Best Intentions" where had had some minor success constantly performing, being played on a number of radio stations such as BBC radio, featured in "Discovered Magazine's" ones to watch section, and performing in the LG arena before McBusted.
From December 2016 I have been teaching in the Leeds College of Music Saturday music school, Here I help bands choose material to play, write songs, build better performance style and help them understand what its like being a real world musician.
December 2016- march 2017 I ran an after school song writing workshop where I taught the fundamentals of writing a song. Here I helped the students gain more confidence in songwriting, gain confidence in performing, gave them the knowledge to write their own songs at home, and help with their music studies in school.
I have worked as a part time tutor for a music service called the Rock Project. I ran group guitar sessions teaching them a number of things such as practise exercises, chords, theory, songs and scales.
My approach to tutoring is to make the session personal to the pupil. No matter what skill level they are, I hope to give a fun and exciting lesson which will inspire to pupil to want to always play music. I will cater the lessons to what they want to learn, for example if they just want to play guitar as a hobby I will teach the basics and whatever songs they wish to learn. If a pupil wants to go through the grades or is an aspiring musician I will facilitate them by giving a much more in depth lesson which involves every aspect of music.
