Personal Description:

Start early and commit just one hour a week to maximising your achievement next summer! With the new harder GCSE and new problem solving A Level questions, the classes are designed to give your son/daughter an advantage over other pupils taking the exams. I am a fully qualified experienced maths teacher working at Southend High School for Boys. I provide a better quality alternative to expensive private tuition. My past students from all backgrounds have achieved A's and A*'s at both GCSE and A Levels. Pupils come to me with low target grades and low in confidence, and my lessons will turn that around.

One hour a week with an inexperienced private tutor doing the hard work for your son/daughter will not make a significant impact. However, the classes offered are structured and cover all of the topics needed to achieve high scores in exams next year. My classes have been a proven success and over the past 2 years all pupils have achieved at least one fine grade above their target grade.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. I look forward to speaking to you soon.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a fully qualifield maths teacher 100% dedicated to mathematics, and working at a grammar school in Southend. I have completed a Mathematics Honours Degree at the University of Essex and I have completed my PGCE in 2015 with the highest grade of "outstanding". I thoroughly enjoy giving up my evenings working with keen and able maths pupils, and helping them achieve in their summer exams.

I spent the last year mainly teaching at Southend High School for Girls all year groups, varying with ability. Furthermore, I have worked at Shoeburyness High School on a placement working with all year groups with varying abilities. I have recently started a new permanent roles at Southend High School for boys teaching through all key stages.

I work with the Maths Education Institution and use resources provided from them when necessary, and I am current completing a Teaching Advanced Mathematics course at the Institute of Education.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is running group sessions at centre walking distance from Southend-On-Sea town centre. The group sizes are very small and provides better value than other tutors in the area. On first tutors website, there is an article stating the average cost for private tuition is £30 per hour. Prices lower than that does not guarantee you a subject specialist maths teacher.

I am a fully qualified maths teacher with experience in tutoring GCSE and A Level pupils. I know what pupils need to do to achieve in their exams, and one hour per week with a private tutor does not guarantee that. So as an alternative, I run two hour booster sessions at a price similar to what you would be paying for a one hour private session. Joining the booster class will be double the revision of a private tutor. These will be on the set days of the weeks as follows:

£15 per hour
Max 10 pupils

In these sessions, we will be working on past paper exam questions and looking at A and A* topics mainly. All pupils completing the higher paper this summer would be recommended to coming onto this course. Come and try a session if you would like to see if it works for you.

£20 per hour
Max 8 pupils

Pupils often struggle in the lead up to their Year 12 Maths A level and the structure of 2 hour sessions allows to pupils to build their confidence week by week and achieve a high grade. The key to A level Maths is exam practise and it is essential that in AS the pupils develop the right attitude and work hard. From experience, I have seen pupils grow in confidence from working through maths papers and it is very rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable! Come and try a session if you would like to see if it works for you.

£20 per hour
Max 8 pupils

Pupils will need to achieve a certain grade for their university places and these sessions can help you achieve your target. The key to Year 13 A level Maths is twice the exam practise of Year 12 and for pupils to see as many past paper questions as possible. From experience, pupils can achieve the maths grade they want to in Year 13, and our sessions maximise the revision for these exams. All Year 13 pupils are welcome, please come and try a session if you would like to see if it works for you.
