Hello! I'm Jordan. I'm a trade negotiator for the UK government specialising in East Asia, and a graduate of the University of Oxford. I studied History and French at Trinity College, and spent a year studying history on a Masters exchange at the Sorbonne.
I specialise in unlocking the potential of talented candidates held back by a lack of confidence, experience or advanced knowledge. I push my students well beyond the limits of the traditional public education system. In a world where grade inflation has eroded the importance of just doing well at A Level, I take special care that my students are noticed by universities as well-rounded, interesting and desirable candidates.
I have been tutoring students for Oxbridge and Russell Group entry for years, focusing on knowledge and ways of things not taught in schools. I go beyond the bounds of regular curricula, honing in on knowledge and experience that universities look for to distinguish their best candidates. I offer tutoring for Russell Group and Oxbridge entry, as well as interview and entry exam preparation. My focus means I do not tutor for specific A Level exams.
I offer a personalised and flexible service depending on the student's needs and interests. I aim to succeed on measures of quantifiable attainment, like practice exams or essays; however, the best route to success at university is to foster a broad and tangible interest the subject that universities can pick up on. I thus teach an expanded curriculum, incorporating art, music and culture into my lessons to enable my student to think outside the confines of their traditional syllabi. Lateral thinking is in great demand by elite universities, but frequently under-acknowledged.
