Information About Jonathan - Peckham tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Jonathan:
I am a friendly, engaging and motivating tutor based in Camberwell in South London. I offer tuition in A-Level Maths across all exam boards, at both A and AS level.
I have loved maths for as long as I can remember and had an insatiable appetite for it from a very young age. I’ve always been keen to share that passion with others; even at primary school I used to help my classmates out with their maths after I had finished all the textbooks available to me.
Up until recently I was a PRINCE2, PMI certified Project Manager working for one of the largest IT companies in the world, managing multi-million pound projects both in the UK and overseas. This has given me tremendous experience in facilitation and organization, and an understanding of how to get the best out of people and motivate them to deliver beyond their expectations.
I have a very strong academic record: I graduated from Imperial College with a BSc in Physics (2:1), having achieved an “A” grade for both Maths and Further Maths at A-Level (the highest level available at the time). I completed my GCSE’s at a comprehensive school and my A-Levels at a selective grammar so I have experience working in different educational systems and with a wide variety of abilities.
Away from the classroom I sing in Camberwell Community Choir, go to yoga classes in East Dulwich, swim and run regularly, love travelling (I'll happily bore you with my travel stories) and enjoy spending time with my friends.
I have been a tutor for 3 months and currently have two regular A-Level students.
My primary aim whilst tutoring is to encourage students to express themselves and enjoy their subject, allowing them to grow their confidence and shine. As well as passing on knowledge of the subject, I encourage and support students so that they can solve new problems themselves.
My lessons are carefully structured with focus towards topics that the student perceives to be a weakness and topics that the student is struggling with in class tests. This planning is also mindful of the schedule of teaching at the student’s school so that we can maximize all the teaching hours available to them.
This approach allows students to achieve at the top end of their ability, whatever their ability might be.
