I am 51 years old and have lived in Dunfermline, my home town, since 2006. I am a tutoring specialist but have also taught in schools in London, Edinburgh and across West and Central Fife. I am also a songwriter and musician with many previous years of professional experience. Tutoring focus is currently on pupils preparing for national 5 Maths with particular concentration on confidence building and exam and assessment strategy.

Tutoring Experience

Maths tutoring since 2013 and teaching Maths in schools since 2017. Have tutored Higher and GCSE Maths and now specialise at National 5 level. High success rate with pupils preparing to sit or resit National 5 Maths exam
Have also taught and tutored English, History and Modern studies at national 5 and Higher levels.
I am also a guitar tutor up to intermediate level.
Have achieved consistent success with pupils in all the above academic subjects with a current focus on Maths

Tutoring Approach

I have a relaxed and calm approach with a strong emphasis on getting to know the learning style of the pupil and their particular needs, concerns and areas of focus in the subject. I am very flexible both in terms of the volume of tutoring asked for over any particular length of time and of the depth required.
Most of my tutoring based on home visits which is preferable but more recently online using Zoom which I also used extensively last academic year when teaching in school.
