Personal Description:

*Contact me for Oxbridge applications, BPTC resits and Training Contract Applications*

My name is Jonathan, I am 24 years old and originally from Ireland… I read law at the University of Oxford (St. Peter's College) for three years before completing a Masters in Law at the University of Toronto. Within law, I have an understanding of all core modules and have a specialism in Health Law. I graduated with a First from the University of Toronto, attaining the top mark in the year in a module on the Law and Policy of Biotechnology. I passed the Bar Professional Training Course with an Outstanding (Outstanding in 8 of 12 modules including criminal and civil litigation).

Beyond my studies, I enjoy playing Ice Hockey (I am a level 1 Ice Hockey Coach) and wakeboarding. I am also an avid Ireland Rugby fan.

I'm very happy to answer any questions that you may have about the tutoring process and hope you get in touch soon.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a track record of academic success, which I use to provide a thorough and approachable tutoring service.

Over the course of my studies so far, I have prepared a number of legal papers with a view of publication. Two are forthcoming in Canadian Health Law Journals in the coming year.

I have been a guest lecturer for a Global Legal Systems Seminar at the University of Toronto. I taught a seminar about the Northern Irish Legal system and the impact of UK devolution.

I have significant experience providing legal advice at pro bono legal clinics which involves the explanation of complex legal matters in simple and accessible ways.

Finally, I have been captain and coach of a number of ice hockey teams, which has allowed me to develop an accessible, approachable and effective teaching style. I have been able to adapt my approach to different players and their unique needs.

Tutoring Approach:

Overall Aim

My aim is to help people that are struggling with their work by helping with revision techniques, different approaches to studies or going through material in a detailed manner to help with general understanding. Furthermore, I am available to help high performing students who need a confidence boost ahead of exams.

I am happy to provide tutoring of the topic itself as well provide proof reading and advice services for essays.

Law is a topic that requires a significant amount of learning and understanding. On this basis, I do expect that people will have done the necessary reading but am willing to help with anybody's understanding if they continue to struggle.

I aim to teach by finding out the areas in which a student is struggling to understand the application of legal concepts and help them to apply those concepts to factual scenarios. My goal is that once students can apply concepts to one scenario they can apply them to another and begin to understand the function and operation of these concepts.

I graduated 10th in my class on the BPTC and so I am happy to help anyone looking for tuition with any module during this course.

Entrance Exams

I provide detailed coaching for applications to Oxbridge and for law. I also provide coaching and advice on training contract applications.

I have completed the LNAT and BCAT entrance exams and have been through undergraduate university and postgraduate application process. I am also a successful Oxbridge Graduate and have experience of the application process. I understand the UCAS system.

I can also provide mock interviews.
