Based in East London, I'm an English tutor and Screenwriter with an excellent record in helping pupils achieve (and often exceed) their target grades. Having worked in the Dean Academy in the Forest of Dean for 4 years (promoted to second in department in 18 months), I have gone on to privately tutor a range of pupils from 11+ to A-level, with excellent results - particularly in entrance exams to Independent Schools. In 2013, I received an MA at the prestigious National Film and Television School, and have gone on to write a number of short films that have received numerous awards, including a short animation that was the only UK short film in competition at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. I now combine my time writing and tutoring around London.
I worked as an English Teacher (teaching both Language and Literature) in a comprehensive school in the Forest of Dean, garnering excellent results at both Key Stage 3 (11-14) and GCSE. I was incredibly sad to leave the school, but resigned in December 2010 to take up an offer of a place at the National Film and Television School.
I think with one-to-one tutoring, the teacher has a fantastic opportunity to map-out an individualised plan of learning. Everything should evolve from the pupil's interests, skills and ability - and there should be clearly defined objectives. I also think that learning should be fun, and during my time in education, devised a number of different ways of delivering lessons - using a range of different teaching styles.
