I have a doctorate in geology/chemistry from Oxford University, and over 20 years' tuition experience in both mathematics & respective branches of the natural sciences up to A Level and beyond.

Tutoring Experience

As above. I have over 20 years' experience on a 1:1 private tuition basis of all named subjects; I also have taught classes up to 8 in summer schools in Oxford.

Tutoring Approach

Principally, I am results-focused for the students to reach their individual subject goal.

This will be achieved by simplifying - and reconstructing - learning pathways for topics which the students find challenging; and subsequently developing knowledge through effective interaction and providing an eclectic outlook on the subject . I will of course provide them with practical tips and techniques, to maximise examination scores.

I am very keen on students also having a very broad knowledge of mathematics and natural science (as well as examination-focus) as overlapping of the subjects e.g. mathematical mechanics into physics, volume calculations in chemistry sharpens the focus, so I do like to ask questions regularly that are both central and peripheral to the core topic.

To enhance the learning experience, I do like to keep the tuition enthusiastic, upbeat and enjoyable - using plenty of worked examples and pictures/diagrams/practical demos.
