I am 41 years of age and hold a B.Sc (Ed) degree in Statistics and Economics, M.Sc degree in Business Information Technology and currently doing a master degree in advance teaching of Mathematics. In fact, I am MEI certified to teacher A-level Mathematics including Further Maths. My gift and diligence has been crowned with several academic awards in the course of my studies. I had best student award in both first degree and masters' degree convocations. I therefore want to extend this spirit of excellence to my students/tutees.
I am currently assistant head of Maths Department at Oldbury Wells School; a subject mentor of NQT and coordinator for primary school enrichment and transition lessons. I have flare for teaching Mathematics, and could help anybody to optimize his/her potential despite abilities/weaknesses.
I have 15 years of productive and fulfilled teaching experiences with pupils of different ages and abilities: in small groups and on individual basis. My tutees' and pupils' results in the last 11 years years show that I settle for nothing but the best.
My student centred approach; knowledge discovery approach and intrinsic motivation have helped most of my pupils, both high and low abilities, to optimize their potential. In fact, I combined coaching and teaching; and this enhances the teacher-tutee relationship. I always build on the strengths of my tutees and help them to use these strengths to explore and approach unfamiliar concepts. This give the tutees good grasp and confidence of the Mathematical concepts no matter how challenging or difficult they could be.
I am always positive and confident about my tutees. I hardly say "wrong answer" but rather redirect the reasoning of tutees to the right answer. This helps less coonfident pupils to gain/develop confidence.
Again, as an EDEXCEL examiner, I use variety of approaches and the common mistake of pupils/candidates to guide my tutees.
