Over the past decade, I have tutored more than 150 students of mixed ability levels. These have included weak candidates struggling to pass benchmark grades as well as more able students who need extra motivation and focus to achieve top grades. I provide one hour, day and evening sessions, once a week for each student, occasionally with longer periods or at greater frequency. I have an outstanding record of improving value added examination results, consistently improving results at both G.C.S.E and A level. Moreover, my tuition business has been built on recommendation, with over 70 % of new students coming from referrals.
I have over 20 years teaching experience teaching in both schools and colleges. Between 2002- 2006, I was a key member of the Economics and Business Studies Department at Newcastle-Under-Lyme School, that consistently produced the best A level results in the school. I also coached the junior cricket teams and managed the elite athletics programme.
Prior to this, I worked for 10 years at Stockport College of FE and HE, working on Degree, Professional and HND courses, teaching Quantitative Techniques, Economics, and Business studies.
I have a calm, patient approach to tutoring, in which I believe it is crucial to build the confidence of each individual student as well as increasing their subject expertise. I recognise that each student has a different response to teaching methods and try to reflect that in my teaching strategies. For instance, I try to engage, enthuse, and manage each student by providing tailor-made learning packages designed to meet individual abilities.
