I have been a tutor for a long time and have successfully tutored children, young people and adults at all levels up to post-graduate.I am now semi-retired so I only take a few students. I have particular expertise in and enthusiasm for teaching Religious Studies, Philosophy, English Literature/Language and History to 'A'-level. I am a Principal Examiner with the International Baccalaureate (IB). - an international exam board with rigorous standards. My interests include: history, gardening, cricket, poetry and walking my black Labrador, Charlie.
I have been Head of Department in a variety of grammar and comprehensive schools in the UK. I have taught in London, Buckinghamshire and in the North-West. I taught Linguistics, English and History to adult students for the Open University. I have also taught and examined English and History to both GCSE and A2 level. I have experience of teaching Maths, Latin and English as a Foreign Language.
I am approachable and friendly and. I enjoy teaching and am patient and helpful. I make the subject interesting and always check that the student grasps the idea being presented to her/him. I set homework (and I mark it) regularly.
