I am in my second year of teaching "Principles of Economics" to first year economics students at the University of Lancaster. I have offered private tuition to a considerable number of satisfied students at Lancaster for the last three years. My experience covers elementary mathematics to advanced economic and statistical theory.
I have attended two one-day teaching workshops; one provided by the Economics Network and another provided by Lancaster University.
I have tutored the following areas:
Microeconomics (Principles, Intermediate and Advanced)
Macroeconomics (Principles, Intermediate, Advanced and Applied)
Econometrics (Statistical underpinning, Theory and Applications)
Mathematical Economics (Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced)
Public Economics and Political Economics, Labour Economics, Industrial Organisation, Development Economics, Financial Economics and International Banking and Risk Management
I take a student centric approach to tutoring. I ask the student what specific topics or concepts they are finding difficult, and I aim to provide a specific solution as well as a broader understanding of the topic and how it fits into the subject in question. I aim to highlight links between topics or concepts within a subject to maximise student understanding.
I offer face-to-face tuition and online tuition via Skype. During Skype tuition I share my screen with students so I can draw diagrams and graphs, annotate materials and offer step by step explanations. Any notes I make during tutoring sessions are later shared with the student.
