Personal Description:

I have studied Philosophy for 10 years, at Reading, Oxford University, and London, and have recently submitted my PhD. I love the subject, and am passionate about teaching it too!

I am willing to negotiate my rates if they are unaffordable :)

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored Philosophy for 7 years, both at A' level and undergraduate levels.

Undergraduate: I have lectured, given seminars and tutorials, and marked assessed essays for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year courses in Philosophy. I've offered tuition on either specific topics, or on a particular essay or piece of work.

A' level: This has included all exam boards. I have worked as a consultant for Michael Lacewing (the author of the philosophy A' Level textbooks) for his company ALP, giving lectures for the National A Level events for up to 200 students in many areas of philosophy as well as giving tailored conferences at schools.

Some case studies of my past students:

- My first student started under my tutelage with a C average and his final A’ level result for philosophy was an A.

- One of my A' level students in 2010 undertook a self-taught A’ level on a gap year, and I was his only point of contact and taught him the entire syllabus. He achieved a remarkable 100% and 98% in his A level units, giving him an A*.

- In 2012 I taught a student the entire syllabus while she was on a gap-year, in the space of only 5 months. She attained an A grade and gained a place at Oxford University.

Tutoring Approach:

I will tailor the style, pace, content, and depth of teaching to support growth in you as an individual, depending on your current strengths and areas for improvement. I am also able to coach on exam technique and essay writing technique, which can have a big effect on final results. If you would like to understand the subject better, go beyond what you’ve covered in the classroom, prepare for philosophy at university, or simply to get the best exam grade possible, get in touch! I am also able to offer help with essays and mock exams, which can be done either face to face (if in Reading, London, or Bristol) or over email and **Contact Detail Removed**. I charge half my usual rate for travel time if beyond a 5 mile radius, plus a small supplement for petrol.
