This is how 3 referees rated Joanna:
I am currently teaching in Glasgow after living and working in the Scottish Borders for 4 years. I have a BSc (HONS) in Immunology and Pharmacology from the University of Strathclyde and prior to entering the teaching profession I worked as a preclinical pharmacologist in a pharmaceutical company, carrying out research into treatments for asthma and arthritis. I also worked for one year in Japan as an English teacher, which is what influenced my career change into teaching
I have been teaching for thirteen years. I have experience of teaching all levels of Biology and Chemistry to Advanced Higher, and have a solid track record of results. I have introduced the Higher Human course to the department, and have been solely responsible for all resource development and implementation including powerpoints and end-of unit tests. This course has been a huge success in the school, and produced excellent sets of results. I have been an SQA market for the last 7 years. I am also registered with the GTCS and PVG scheme.
I am happy to provide my own supplementary resources to tutees and parents to help consolidate any key points where there is uncertainty. I am also happy to use standard text and revision guides if the tutee is more comfortable with this. I believe in the value of practice and so have prepared many supplementary problem solving sheets, and examples of, for exemple, genetics problems. Also, with my previous experience in pharmaceutical research, i can bring a real world experience to tutoring sessions.
