Knutsford Tutor

I am a highly experienced teacher having taught for over 25 years. I have a warm approach and can get the best out of pupils by finding their preferred style of learning. I have taught a wide range of pupils of all abilities and have raised their achievements beyond expected levels on all occasions. I still teach in the classroom and also have tutees.

For those wishing to sit 11+ Entrance tests I have a high pass rate at both AGGS and AGSB. After an initial assessment I will discuss with parents their childs potential in these highly competitive exams. I specialise in exam preparation for both the Independent sector and 11+, but only take a very limited number of tutees on in any year.

I am qualified to teach from KS1 through to A'level having been formally trained across all Key Stages. I teach in upper KS2, hold QTS and also hold a specialist qualification in SpLD (Dyslexia).

Tutoring Experience

I currently teach Y6 in an Ofsted rated Outstanding School. I also specialise in exam preparation for both the Independent sector and 11+. I taught in Trafford (11+) for many years and now teach in Cheshire schools. I can confidently increase childrens achievements in literacy and numeracy and can cater for the needs of those experiencing learning difficulties.

I initially trained to teach at secondary level and taught GCSE and A'Levels (Politics and History) but formally retrained and qualified to primary over 20 years ago. I am also an experienced KS2 NCT (sats) Examiner

Entrance tests currently tutored for in the Independent sector include the highly prestigious schools of Manchester Grammar School, Manchester High School for Girls and The Grange. For those wishing to sit the 11+ - Altrincham Girls Grammar School, Altrincham Boys Grammar School, Loreto and St Ambrose. More recently, schools are moving towards CEM tests and I teach towards these exams accordingly.

Tutoring Approach

1 to 1 tuition at a realistic pace to suit the learning style of the individual. I use IT in my teaching and believe increased confidence is the best approach as success increases confidence and self belief. My tutees and pupils all recognise the warmth and positive attitude I bring to the classroom and look forward to my lessons. Through this approach and my ability to adopt different teaching styles, my pupils make above average progress in any given year.

For those wishing to sit 11+ or Independent Entrance exams could you please let me know the schools and I will tailor tuition accordingly.
