Tutoring Experience

For the last 5 years, I have taught privately and as a substitute piano and theory teacher at the Sheffield Music Academy. I have worked with a variety of different students and ages, including both children and adults, as well as preparing students for ABRSM graded exams and concert performances.

Tutoring Approach

I strongly believe that the most effective (and enjoyable!) way to learn the piano must encompass a variety of different learning techniques and musical approaches, focusing not only the mechanics of piano playing but, more importantly, on developing one's musicianship both at and away from the piano, for instance through aural training and elements of Alexander Technique.

Whether, young children or adult amateurs, I encourage all of my students to explore and develop their own individual strengths and musical qualities, whilst simultaneously giving them the tools to improve upon those elements of their playing that they are less happy with. Moreover, I believe that learning the piano should be a fun and creative experience that aids one's personal development, and consequently make it my aim to ensure that all of my students come away from their lesson feeling energised and inspired!
