I have a passion for Mathematics, having studied it up to University level where I gained a 1st Class Honours degree. I have tutored over 100 students at both GCSE and A level since 2010 and thoroughly enjoy being able to help individuals improve their understanding of Maths and gain confidence.
During 2009/10 I was enrolled on a PGCE course at Nottingham University and gained experience of teaching in two large Secondary schools. I have also in the past undertaken voluntary work in a Primary school helping children with numeracy. Since 2010 I provided private tuition to over 100 students in both GCSE and A level Maths, helping them to increase their confidence in Maths and improve their results.
My approach to tutoring is to work with the individual at their own pace, identifying and helping to ovecome any misconceptions or misunderstandings they may have, building a solid understanding in the subject, rather than simply trying to learn and follow rules. My lessons are interactive as I am always assessing whether they have understood the topic before moving on and I have access to many exam questions from various exam boards which I use to walk through with students and also if required provide as homework. I believe that self-belief together with a 'can-do' attitude goes a long way to helping children improve their results and helping to build confidence is an integral part of my approach. Although I do advertise, the majority of my students come via personal recommendation.
