This is how 2 referees rated Jim:
I have a passion for Mathematics, having studied it up to University level where I gained a 1st Class Honours degree. I have tutored over 100 students at both GCSE and A level since 2010 and thoroughly enjoy being able to help individuals improve their understanding of Maths and gain confidence.
During 2009/10 I was enrolled on a PGCE course at Nottingham University and gained experience of teaching in two large Secondary schools. I have also in the past undertaken voluntary work in a Primary school helping children with numeracy. Since 2010 I provided private tuition to over 100 students in both GCSE and A level Maths, helping them to increase their confidence in Maths and improve their results.
My approach to tutoring is to work with the individual at their own pace, identifying and helping to ovecome any misconceptions or misunderstandings they may have, building a solid understanding in the subject, rather than simply trying to learn and follow rules. My lessons are interactive as I am always assessing whether they have understood the topic before moving on and I have access to many exam questions from various exam boards which I use to walk through with students and also if required provide as homework. I believe that self-belief together with a 'can-do' attitude goes a long way to helping children improve their results and helping to build confidence is an integral part of my approach. Although I do advertise, the majority of my students come via personal recommendation.

Our son Thomas has had his first lesson last night and said it was the best
Thank you Jim for taking Thomas on.
Thank you Jim
Jim is very knowledgeable on all maths topics and is a excellent teacher. My son enjoyed his Skype lessons and they have helped immensely in filling in the gaps in his knowledge. His confidence in the subject has greatly improved and he is much more capable in solving the trickiest of Maths questions (usually at the end of the papers) which he struggled with before. I have no doubt the lessons have helped to improve his grade.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Jim to anyone.
Upd**Telephone Number Removed** My son got an "A" for his GCSE Maths, up from a predicted "C".
My son likes his teaching methods - breaks down complex questions ensuring student can understand easily. Thanks Jim !!

Georgia and I can't thank you enough for the help you have given her so far. You have given her the confidence to try things and praised her when she's got things right, to hear her sound positive about what she can do is great for me, as she's been so upset and struggling at school to the point of wanting to give it all up, She now feels more relaxed about her homework over Christmas and looks forward to another session prior to her mock exams. Georgia feels you explain things really clearly, and you have patience to go over things again if needed.
Thank you Jim and we will be in touch for future sessions.
