As a published author and teacher, I love to facilitate learning in others.
I enjoy walking, swimming, reading, and the gym when I'm not writing or teaching.
My approach to life is that everyone is capable of achieving whatever they set their mind to within the bounds of possibility. As yet, no one is able to fly using feathers on their arms. But most people can pass an exam, learn to play piano, write a book or run a marathon if they’re motivated.
A fully qualified teacher, I've been teaching English for almost two decades.
My teaching experience ranges from primary level reading and writing skills, through GCSE and A level.
I've also taught Creative Writing at the Open Univeristy.
I use various techniques including scaffolding [enabling the student to feel confident before letting them work alone on a project], humour, mind mapping, contextual cues for nervous students, and exam skills.
Most of all, I enjoy developing a real rapport with each student so I can teach them in a way which suits their learning style.
