I’m 23 years old, British and am training to become a Commercial Pilot. Since graduating, I’ve been at my flying school completing each phase of my flight training and throughout the phases, I’ve been told to consider flight instruction. I am a patient and encouraging person and I feel that I am able to explain key concepts clearly to anyone of any age - I’m somehow able to explain to both my grandfather and my little brother the Physics of how an aeroplane flies at the same time! I do particularly like Geography, IT, Physics and History but I also like English, Maths and the other sciences.
I have been a “Pupil Buddy” in my previous schools, helping younger pupils with their work which they didn’t understand. I tutor my little brother; who is in secondary school to help him get the best start for the GCSEs. More recently, I've been helping out at my flying school, revising all elements of the 14 Ground School modules (Aviation Law, Meteorology, Principles of Flight etc).
I attended a school which had smaller classes than the usual schools in the UK. I do believe that this helped greatly in my education. One to one tutoring tailors my knowledge to my student well and we can go at the pace that’s comfortable for them.
I find the best way to deliver new information is through a combination of using analogies and by being a little practical were possible - its helped me through my education.
I have a genuine interest in knowledge and find it rewarding when someone learns something I have taught them. It’s also about the bigger picture too; I like to think that not only can a person learn something but they can use their newfound knowledge to develop new ideas.
