I'm Jet, and I'm a friendly tutor with a focus on the Arts and Humanities. I graduated in English Literature from the University of Glasgow in 2010, and incorporated Religious Studies and the Classics into my undergraduate degree. I have A* A-Levels in English Literature, Religious Studies, and Law. I studied at a grammar school (Queen Elizabeth's High School, Lincolnshire), and so I am familiar with the 11+ system, and the pressures of meeting these standards- which I can help primary school students prepare for.
I have over 4 years experience tutoring A-Level students for their university applications, and helping them to hone their personal statements for UCAS. In my day job working as a TV Assistant Producer I run free workshops on CV Building and key skills to help applicants enter the industry- and have formerly worked as a company wide trainer for a large hospitality firm in Scotland. I'm a qualified leader within GirlGuiding UK and have worked with young women from the ages of 6-18 on developing their skills and confidence for over 10 years.
I believe that one-on-one tutoring is the best way to identify key areas of a student's performance that can be developed, and to create a relationship of trust with a student in order to build their confidence. I work alongside GCSE and A-Level syllabuses to reveal to students the patterns that can be learned from them, and create a familiarity with the style needed for exam questions in order to build a student's confidence in hitting necessary targets. I'm patient when teaching, and pay a lot of attention to the student's individual learning style to ensure that they can achieve their full potential.
