Hello! I'm a third year at the University of Manchester studying Politics and International Relations. I previously studied political science and psychology at an all-girls university in Pennsylvania. I'm a news junkie and read academic journals in my free time. Topics range from politics to law, psychology, and history. I've also written for the university student newspaper [http://mancunion.com/author/jessica-chow-lau/]. I adore working with children and they seem to like me too!
In Pennsylvania, I was asked by a professor to tutor for her courses. And in my first year at Manchester I took the initiative to tutor my classmates.
I break concepts down to sections so pupils can more easily approach information. I have found that applying nuanced or nebulous theories to pop culture references greatly increases understanding. Rewording questions to show how concepts are important and relevant to the student helps, in addition to fostering a greater appreciation for the subject.
