This is how 2 referees rated Jessica:
I am a BA HONS English Literature graduate from the University of Exeter.
I am very friendly and approachable, and realise individual student needs. I myself am Dyslexic, so can immediately sympathise with any that may have such difficulties in reading or writing.
Ultimately, I realise that the student, especially those at GCSE or A level, wants to reach as high as possible, and I believe that my approach will enable them to do so.
I have 2 years worth of experience in private tuition and have a very stable success rate. Most recently I helped one of my students move from a predicted D grade in English GCSE to a B! It is possible!
I have also been a swimming teacher for many years and so realise how to present instructions clearly to younger children as well as older children. Most importantly, this has taught me how to motivate students to have fun whilst they are learning!
It is very important to help students remember the point of their education in order to motivate them to achieve as best as they can. I believe that stress and unnecessary pressure from schools and exam boards sometimes results in the student feeling like they just won't be able to reach the goals set out for them. But this is just not true, and as a tutor I want to highlight the possibilities to my students, rather than the impossibilities. This really is the key to helping them achieve what they are already so capable of!
