Information About Jessica - Edinburgh tutor - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Jessica:
I am a recent graduate of Edinburgh Napier University, where I received a 2:1 in English and Journalism. The English literature side of my degree focussed heavily on 19th Century literature, particularly the gothic.
My dissertation was written from a journalistic point of view, debating media control and the representation of Israel and Palestine in the English major newspapers. I currently work at The List magazine in Edinburgh where I deal with Digital Marketing and campaign management.
I have been tutoring since Jan 2014. I have had several students, the last of which raised his grade from a D to a B.
At the Royal High school I was a drama prefect which involved running the drama club for younger students as well as devising activities for them to perform.
I also volunteer with a local Girl Guides unit in Leith and am currently looking into befriending with Children First.
I believe that a one-on-one situation presents the ideal opportunity for a student to be able to express themselves without the fear of judgement from a classroom full of their peers.
A quiet, relaxed environment is essential. I believe that tutors are not in a role that requires disciple, simply a fresh approach to learning if their current approach is not working. I have a lot of faith that people can do anything, they just have to find an approach that works for them.
