I grew up in London but have travelled extensively in my adult years, in particular to work in Japan (as below). I am an active person, love being outside or going swimming. I enjoy visiting museums and galleries in my spare time and always cook from scratch when I get home!
I have a variety of teaching and tutoring experience. In combination with my successful background in historical research and my current position as a PhD candidate in twentieth century history I can offer an informed, interesting and skilled approach to your tutoring sessions.
I have a variety of teaching and tutoring experience (including teaching in schools, tutoring and teaching undergraduate level history at university). I am currently completing my thesis for a PhD History.
In England, I have worked through educational charities in schools with small groups to develop understanding of citizenship and democracy. In addition, I have worked behind the scenes on Education policy - allowing me to understand the differences between examining board criteria and specifications in different subjects; and get to grips with changes to the national curriculum.
My special subject is modern history I gained a First class honours at undergraduate and Distinction at master's levels. I am now undertaking a PhD with a view to becoming an academic professional. If you need a History tutor there is no doubt that my enthusiasm for the subject will reach you too!
I am keen to plan the right tutoring approach to your needs. I understand that different individuals have different learning styles. If you are already using textbooks then I will endeavour to follow the structure and criteria contained in your textbooks - the same goes for whichever examining board you are qualifying with. However, if you would prefer a more flexible study session in which you learn around a subject through other focuses such as debate, discussion and presentation then I will try to suit you too.
I am an approachable and friendly tutor with a patient approach to problem areas. However, I will expect your input and some interest or enthusiasm to learn! If you don't have that, we will need to work out why and how to solve it!
