I currently work as a full time Head of English having completed my PGCE in Secondary English at the University of Exeter and recently finished my MA in digital learning and creative thinking. Prior to that, I studied for my English degree where I also studied Education as a secondary subject.
I have found that education, in all walks of life, is the key to unlocking doors and widening ones horizons. I am passionate about learning and I wish to inspire the same love in all those I teach.
I generally offer face to face tutoring, but now with social distancing in place I have reverted to 100% online tuition via Zoom/Skype/FaceTime.
Currently, I am a full time Head of English at a local secondary school in Hillingdon having taught English for the last 6 years at GCSE, Alevel and also KS3. I am also a team leader examiner at GCSE for Edexcel and AQA and have marked previously across exam boards. I also mark at ALevel for English Language.
My approach to teaching is simple it has to be engaging. The two most important aspects with learning and teaching is 'What do I want a student to learn?' and "How am I going to get the student to learn it based on their individual way of learning?'. All my sessions will be sequenced into a scheme of work with the long term aim and focus being at the centre of each session. I use a variety of methods and activities that are both innovative, creative and fun which aims to boost confidence and enhance learning.
