Personal Description:

I am a BA Childhood and Youth Graduate (University of Northampton) allowing me to have experience with a wide variety of children all with differing levels of needs. I am an enthusiastic and friendly tutor and enjoy helping children to achieve their full potential. I believe learning is an individual process and that the experience should be tailored to a child's learning style to ensure maximum understanding and a more enjoyable experience.
I consider myself to be loyal and reliable and I look forward to passing on my knowledge and sharing my skills

Tutoring Experience:

• 4 years’ experience of working with children both in primary and secondary schools
• Previous experience includes;
• SEN teaching assistant specialising in those with emotional, social and behavioural issues
• General teaching assistant in a secondary school.
• EAL assistant in a secondary school helped with English and social skills.
• Delivering 1-1 sessions to improve phonics and general English skills within a mainstream primary school.
• Personal and academic mentor to those 11-14.
• Provided information and techniques to help those who are taking SATs manage stress and anxiety.

Tutoring Approach:

I work very closely to the curriculum and respond to a childs indivdual strengths and weaknesses ensuring a well balanced tutoring session that is beneficial both the child and parents. I aim to understand what the parents and children want out of the tutoring sessions through an informal consultation. This therefore allows me to choose an approach that works best for your child.
Methods that are used include;
• Regular timed assessments to chart progress over time
• Visual aids such as timers and interactive activities drawing on a child’s strengths.
• Relate learning to real life scenarios to make learning more beneficial
• Age appropriate rewards to encourage motivation
“Every child deserves a chance to exceed expectations”
