I live in my home town of Nottingham, and teach part time at Nottingham Language Academy as well as private one to one lessons.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, practising yoga and playing with my little boy. I also love travelling and have a strong interest in Linguistics.
I've been teaching since 2010 and have taught both young and adult learners. I have the Cambridge CELTA and DELTA qualifications.
As well as general English lessons that focus on speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, I have also prepared students for FCE, CAE and IELTS exams. I have also lead several teacher training sessions.
Recently, my private one to one lessons have focused on helping learners who have recently moved to the UK to improve their conversational skills in order to communicate with native speakers and integrate themselves into British society. I also prepare students for the Cambridge PET, FCE and CAE exams.#/k#
I like to create a relaxed and relatively informal atmosphere during lessons, and encourage my students to enjoy the learning process and be themselves.
I plan my courses around each individual student's specific needs, with a focus on real-life communication and natural English. As well as providing a thorough understanding of English grammar, I aim to build my students' vocabularies and enable them to understand the sounds of spoken English better.
I either use materials from coursebooks or create my own worksheets to provide a variety of practice activities, although in some lessons we use nothing but our own voices, ears and minds!#/k#
