I'm a PGCE-qualified Lecturer who specialises in GCSE English and Creative Writing.
I've had 18 years' experience of teaching individuals and groups, having worked as a PGCE qualified Lecturer at a local college. I specialise in English and Literacy skills including Speaking and Listening. I have wide experience of teaching children and adults with learning disabilities, as well as young people with behavioural issues, and I have also facilitated adult community groups and creative writing workshops.
I hold a First Class Honours degree in English, an MA in Creative Writing and a PGCE, certificates of which I can show upon request.
I have an approachable, friendly and professional manner and a co operative approach to teaching. I give positive critical feedback to challenge students and promote independence, while being at all times encouraging and supportive. Inclusion and a person-centred approach are important to me in my work. I have a positive approach to students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. I like to build on students' individual strengths, furthering their knowledge and skills, enabling them to acquire skills for independent study. Accordingly, I only teach face-to-face, and not online.
