Having graduated with a Psychology (child development) degree, I am currently working as an HLTA in a Hospital School.
I am currently tutoring maths in KS1, KS2, and KS3. I am able to help with Functional Skills Maths also.
I have been tutoring for a few years now - throughout my degree and continued on after that too. I have worked in primary school settings and am now working with ages 12 to 18 at my current job.
I have worked in tuition centers where there is a 6:1 ratio of children to adults. In my opinion, it isn't the best way tutor. I have been working more one-to-one or two-to-one (this is more common when there are siblings).
Children and young people should feel relaxed and comfortable - for this reason, I try to ensure I'm building positive, trusting relationships with them. I will often ask young people for feedback and try to incorporate that into planning. This makes them feel involved and a part of the learning process.
