This is how 2 referees rated Jason:
I am currently a Sociology PhD student at the University of Sussex and currently work as an Learning Mentor in the English department at Longhill High School. I have a First Class degree in Applied Psychology and Sociology from the University of Brighton.
My interests includes playing and watching football; I am a season ticket holder at Brighton! I am also an avid cinema-goer. I mostly enjoy watching the latest superhero adaptations, but also watch a range of comedies, dramas and thrillers.
From my role as a Learning Mentor, I have experience teaching students at both Key Stage 3 and GCSE level. I have worked with students of all abilities, pushing them to achieve over and above their expectations.
I primarily focus on improving key reading and writing skills, working one-to-one or in small group sessions. Working in this way allows me to tailor each session to the individual learning style of the student, meaning each lesson is its most effective.
I aim to provide flexible tutoring sessions, tailored to the learning style of my tutee. I feel that tutoring is a joint practice, so will plan each session on the basis of what my tutee wishes to focus on. I will ensure that the work is challenging in order to push tutees towards the best of their ability. Ultimately, I aim to provide sessions which are both productive and enjoyable.
