I am an American PhD student at the University of Aberdeen studying Chemistry. I have just recently started at the University and although I am very busy with research, I have some time to help out local students! I obtained my bachelor's of science in biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2013. After this I went to the University of Liverpool and obtained my MA Ancient History with Distinction. I have decided to further my education in Aberdeen by studying for a PhD in Chemistry. I would like to tutor at the University of Aberdeen chemistry building (Meston building).
I have 2.5 years of teaching first year undergraduate level chemistry laboratory. I also have experience tutoring on an individual basis for one year. I will be doing all the tutoring sessions from the Meston Building at the University of Aberdeen.
My approach to tutoring is simple. What I would require from you is your course curriculum and possibly your teachers outline for the course. With this information I can plan according each meeting to go over the relevant topics you will be going over. This is not going to be another course that I will lecture at you, I will be flexible to the needs of the tutee and schedule accordingly top have time for you to raise topics and questions. Each session will include mostly time for answering any questions with materials and doing practice problems/practice exam questions. There is no better way to be prepared than to practice, practice, practice and that is what my tutoring sessions will be focused on.
