Personal Description:

I am able to speak French, Chinese and Spanish. I love the arts both visual and performing. I have travelled extensively over the last 10 years and tried to explore the world through its many viewpoints. I like to build rapport with my students and enjoy seeing the sense of achievement attained from their newly developed understanding of their subject. I see the value in people my goal is to be a motivational force where students achieve their goals over the duration of the course.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a highly qualified, motivated and committed English native speaker who has experience tutoring Psychology and Sociology at AS and A level, aswell as EFL and academic skills. I believe education can give so much to a person's development and growth, and I aspire to pass this energetic and positive approach to learning to students having their learning at the core their experience. I have worked on Young learners, Business English, IELTS, ESP, EAP, EFL, content-based language instruction, academic and research skills programmes in the UK, Spain, Oman and China over the last 15 years.

Tutoring Approach:

My particular interest is in the Humanities, Arts and Languages. I tutor Sociology and Psychology at A level. I embed Academic skills and Exam technique into my sessions. I apply critical thinking and reading skills into the sessions. This interest in creativity has led me to become interested in critical thinking and solution based approaches to working out problems. You could say that my philosophy is 'there is more than one way skin a cat'! That is to say that I approach the tutoring where there is a level of negotiation between the student and tutor - while always being guided by the tutor to give structure and gives direction the classes. I review progress each class and over the longer term to check what learning has taken place.
