I am a French graduate and experienced PGCE qualified teacher. I have been tutoring French for the past seven years. My students have been following courses from a variety of exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, WJEC, Cambridge IGCSE and International Baccalaureate.
I am married with two daughters in their early twenties and enjoy choral singing, tennis, swimming and travelling.
I have over 25 years’ teaching experience in grammar schools in Surrey and Gloucestershire as well as a year teaching in primary schools in La Rochelle as part of my French degree. I have also taught adult learners through the Alliance Française. During my teaching career I have been a GCSE and A-level oral examiner for AQA French examinations, for which I received excellent feedback. My lesson observations have been rated as ‘Outstanding’ and students I have tutored over the past seven years have consistently achieved above their predicted grades in their final exams.
My strengths as a tutor are in quickly identifying students’ needs and the most effective learning style for each individual. My lessons are creative and enjoyable, using a wide variety of resources to practise all four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. I have an encouraging manner which helps build student confidence through a lot of oral communication and grammatical reinforcement.
