Information About Janice - Elland tutor
I am a fully trained Primary teacher with a Maths degree. I have the ability to relate to children and adults of all ages from all works of life. I enjoy teaching and particularly have a passion for Maths. I am an older person although I went into to teaching in my late 30's having Nursery nursed for 20 years. I am a grandmother and am able to encourage and develope children to the best of their ability in a kind but firm way.
I have taught all ages from Nursery through to year 6 in the Primary school setting. I have worked in the Liverpool, Leeds and Southport areas with Primary aged childrens from all walks of life. I have also worked at a Secondary School where I taught students who needed an extra boost to reach a level "C" in their Maths GCSE. I have also worked in the Adult Sector and taught Maths and English to unemployed / employed adults helping them to attain a Level 1 or 2 in Key skills. I have also worked in a private capacity with children aged 6 + who are wishing to take the Eleven plus or other Entrance exams.
I believe that all children learn best in a calm fun environment. I feel that there are many ways in which a child learns and I endeavour to find the correct learning style to suit the child. I feel it is important that the educator gains the trust of the child and always uses positive reinforcement to move the learner on. If one method of teaching does not work then it is important for the educator to try other ways. I believe that "fun" is a key element and believe that Mathematical and Language based games are a good way of extending a student's knowledge , ability and enthusiasm for a subject.
