I have qualifications in working with dyslexic learners and autistic learners. I have a a daughter in S5 who is very driven and focused and a son in S3 who needs extra support in the class room. I feel I understand on a professional and a personal level the challenges and issues in the english classroom.
Seven years in primary schools general class room assistant,
3 years in a secondary school for students with specific learning difficulties, ie ADHD, Dyslexia, Visual impairment, stress related issues.
Currently Teaching English in mainstream Secondary school
1 year as a tutoring a student with dyslexia
1 year tutoring a boy who's first language is Portugese.
1 year tutoring a primary school pupil with dyslexia.
Teaching Secondary S1 - S6. [English]
I believe many problems students are experience are around confidence issues. Not having time in the class room to truly grasp concepts, can leave students constantly lost and not able to reach their potential. During sessions I can diagnose the key areas that are causing problems. I can then work out a set of strategies with that student which will allow them to feel more confident and on top of the work expected of them.
