Information About Jane - Heathfield tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Jane:
I'm a friendly, cheerful and encouraging fully-qualified primary teacher with 17 years of real classroom experience, mainly in mixed-age classes. I also spent a year or two being a parent helper when my own three children were in primary school. I enjoy teaching!
Since 1991 I've worked in primary schools in Hampshire and East Sussex and have taught in classes across the entire primary age range, from Early Years through to Year 6. I've been tutoring privately from my own home since 2016 and have worked individually with children aged 5 to 14, as well as with adults.
I believe the most important role for a private tutor is to help develop and build a pupil's self-confidence and understanding, either generally or in a particular subject, so they can perform happily and to the best of their ability in school.
I tailor my lessons to the individual and, particularly in maths, I like to make at least part of the lesson relevant to what the pupil is working on in school. I encourage my pupils to talk to me about what they are finding tricky, helping them to 'take charge' of their own learning.
Learning should be fun! I use a wide range of resources in my dedicated 'school' room - games, hands-on equipment, whiteboards, workbooks, worksheets - something to suit every learning style. I take notes every lesson to highlight areas of strength as well as those requiring extra input and these feed into my plans for the following week/s.
