I’m a qualified primary-school teacher, now semi-retired. I've worked for 40 years as a teacher, teacher-trainer and consultant. I'm warm and friendly, confident and capable. I teach in a quiet and comfortable room in my house in north Islington.
My experience is extensive: I've taught individuals aged 3-93 and groups of 2-200, and for twenty years I ran my own music school for 3-9 year olds. I've written more than 50 books and many online courses for students. I'm also a musician and I've taught music A level, music GCSE and theory at all levels.
I'm passionate about teaching and I love to impart my knowledge. I have a natural empathy with learners and enjoy finding different ways to explain, approach and show solutions. Every student is different and has individual needs, and I adapt accordingly. Lessons have to be enjoyable for both of us. I'm a very committed teacher and I expect similar commitment in return, but my feet are firmly on the ground and I understand the many other pulls that students face these days.
