English (Foreign Language)
My entire career has been in the teaching and 'Learning and Development' fields both in the UK and overseas. I taught EFL for over ten years in both Germany and Spain; and gained great experience in teaching methods during my time there. Once back in the UK I began to work for large corporations but still focussing on 'Learning and Development '. I am an accredited 'Institute of Leadership and Development' managerial trainer and have delivered management courses to all levels of company employees who, if successful, received a qualification which is recognised world-wide.
I now wish to return to EFL teaching as this is my where my greatest interest lies.
My interests are quite varied; I still love to travel and learn about new cultures. I love books, films, theatre, walking my dog and, if feeling very energtic, zumba classes!
I gained my 'Certificate of Eduction' at Nottingham Teachers' Training College. On graduation, I applied and was accepted for a teaching post in Frankfurt, Germany and then later transferred to Barcelona, Spain. In the language schools I taught English to adult students at all levels ranging from beginners to advanced students. There were also specialist groups or individuals who required business or conversational English.
I spend some time initially assessing the needs of each individual and their learning styles and adapt my teaching method accordingly. In all cases, I use a variety of activities which incorporate speaking, listening and written skills as required. Always upbeat, I ensure that I tailor the lessons to the needs of the student in order to maximise their learning experience.
