I am a Chemistry teacher at a high performing Liverpool secondary school and am really lucky as I love what I do! It is great to help others understand and develop their confidence in Chemistry.
At school I enjoyed science and so studied all three at A Level before completing a degree in Biochemistry at the University of Liverpool. I am able to use my degree knowledge to extend my teaching past the specification making topics relevant and engaging.
My experience of teaching spans across all three key stages specific to the AQA exam board specification. Since completing my PGCE I have taught at 2 different schools in Liverpool benefiting from the experience of teaching students of all abilities from Year 7 through to Y13.
I have been tutoring for two years and really enjoy seeing the impact an hour of tuition can have on someone's confidence. A one to one session is really enjoyable as you can work through things together and tackle issues a lot quicker than when in a whole class environment.
My sessions are tailored to you and the topics/ areas you identify as needing support with. The content of a session will depend upon the chosen topic. It could be reviewing theory or attempting exercises to help consolidate. Within all sessions I include a lot of past paper questions. In doing so I am able to help support you in understanding the content but also crucially help to improve your exam technique and familiarisation with exam board requirements. As a teacher I am really close to mark schemes and commonly asked questions and can select questions tailored to the topic we are focussing on in the lesson.
