I am a highly experienced teacher of Modern Languages, freelance writer and translator. I work from home, where I have a vast library of relevant resources, a waiting room with tea and coffee making facilities and Wi Fi.

Tutoring Experience

I qualified as a teacher of French with German in 1982. I have an honours degree in French (Southampton University) and a postgraduate teaching qualification in French and German (Reading University). I have a Higher Certificate of Proficiency in German. I also offer Spanish to KS4. I have taught in the maintained and private sectors and in all kinds of schools. I have taught adults, both in Adult Education classes, and individually. I have experience of teaching children who are home-schooled. I can offer French to university level, A Level, AS, IB (Higher) and GCSE, German to GCSE and AS level and Spanish to KS4. I have extensive experience of the requirements of all UK exam boards and I am registered with AQA as an examiner. I have worked as a trainer and examiner of MFL with the British Army (AEC Aldershot).

Tutoring Approach

I have a variety of approaches, since no two learners are alike. I take account of each tutee's end goals and learning styles. Enjoyment is a very important factor in my teaching. I aim to foster a friendly but professional relationship with each student, to build their confidence and self belief. I have a large number of loyal customers, and those who have come to me directly, because my services have been recommended by other learners.
