I am a friendly and approachable tutor with a huge amount of enthusiasm for tutoring maths. I was awarded a Scholarship to a competitive independent school before working towards a Masters in Biochemistry at Oxford University.
I have since worked in Investment Banking and as an Air Traffic Controller. In each case the real world application of knowledge and skills from my education was critical. Because of this I really enjoy helping student improve so that they can work towards the qualifications which will benefit their education and future careers.
In my work it has always been critical to continue learning and passing exams. In every role, I have always passed on my knowledge and understanding to others, which has been incredibly gratifying. As a tutor I have enjoyed tutoring maths and other subjects to pupils to help them attain their highest potential grades in SATS, 11+, scholarship and GCSE exams, and in many cases to help them gain entrance to competitive schools.
I believe that it is always the tutor's duty to make learning interesting - inspirational even. Naturally, pupils should always be happy to ask questions so that their curiosity drives their understanding as well.
Maths and sciences should be seen as layers of straight-forward principles that build on what the pupil already knows in an intuitive fashion. A tutor who can layer knowledge in this way allows understanding to grow naturally and not feel like a challenge.
