Personal Description:

Hi there, I am currently studying for a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. I am a very passionate and enthusiastic tutor who is looking to get students excited and engaged in their subject and excel. I am offering tutorial sessions for Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics from secondary to undergraduates level.

My research involves experimentation and numerical modelling of multiphase flows, dealing with complex problems every day. Prior to that I completed my masters degree in chemical Engineering at University College London with 1st class honours and worked in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry.

Tutoring Experience:

I first started tutoring in 2009 when I worked as a tutor for undergraduate students at the University college London covering most first year chemical engineering modules including maths, chemistry and physics. I have also been tutoring as part of the university staff for over two years at the University of Edinburgh covering subjects including Maths, thermodynamics, physics and Chemistry.

I have also worked for over four years as a private tutor in Chemistry, Physics and mathematics for students between the ages of 14-18 and from secondary school level to advanced highers.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring aims to engage the student in the subject while encouraging the student to think beyond the problem using real life and easily understood problems and examples. My first priority is to understand the strength and weaknesses of the student and their approach to learning thus enabling me to tailor my sessions to best meet their needs.

My tutorials are normally very engaging and highly stimulating for students and I have real life experience of using Maths and science in industry so I can make the topic fun and seem worthwhile. I am also able to simplify complex problems and explain it to students in ways they can understand, building up their confidence and helping them gain the knowledge they need to succeed.
