I'm a relaxed current student, going into my third of undergraduate study at the University of Warwick after passing my first and second years with First Class grades in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics and Economics (MORSE).
I'm friendly and punctual, easy to get on with whilst being simultaneously hardworking and organised. I've got a passion for learning and teaching - I currently hold the position of Academic Head on the Warwick MORSE Society executive committee, which means I'm responsible for delivery of certain revision lectures to a large cohort (in some cases 90+ students) and production of revision materials.
I first began tutoring students in AS Maths during my A2 year (2013) of college, to aid myself with revision for my Further Maths exams; as such this leaves me with a strong familiarity with current exam structures and questions. Since then, I've tutored casually for the children of parents' friends and also for my own friends, at different levels ranging from pre-GCSE to University-level pure and applied mathematics. I have a particular specialty in pure mathematics, probability and statistics, but can also tutor students in decision mathematics and mechanics - if this were needed, I would need to be notified well in advance.
I aim to be seen as more of a friend than a tutor; since I finished my A level studies in 2013, I'm still very familiar with the format and particular needs of Mathematics exams.
Generally I tutor through use of examples and questions, rather than regurgitating my own knowledge, though if it's apparent that "old fashioned" teaching is required, I go back to basics to fully explain a topic and then carry on by applying this to examples. Often I will apply these techniques to easy examples and then go on to build them up into more complex examples that thoroughly challenge the tutee.
