I am an outgoing and friendly individual with a creative approach to my work. I will only teach what I myself can be enthusiastic about and aim to make this enthusiasm as infectious as possible.
I graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford in 2012, with a masters from King's College, London in 2014, and with an MSc Psychology from The University of Westminster in 2016. I am currently working towards a doctorate in Psychology at the University of Roehampton.
I recognise that my academic upbringing has been extremely privileged, and it is a pleasure to be able to act as a mentor and role model for students to be able to have the same opportunities I have benefitted from.
I also write contemporary classical music, have sung in the Royal Opera House with Pavarotti, and have a pet chameleon called Stephen.
I have been working full time as a private tutor now for over six years now, having worked with over eighty students with a number of London's top tutoring agencies. I specialise in preparing students for entrance exams in the top private and grammar schools in and around London.
The majority of my work is in preparation for 7+, 8+ and 11+ exams, covering Maths, English and Reasoning.
I have been successful in placing my students in schools such as Latymer, City of London, UCS, King's Wimbledon, Dulwich College, Alleyn's, St Margaret's and more.
I have a particular interest in helping students moving from the state to private sector.
I have also worked extensively with students in KS1 or KS2 who have required additional help and encouragement with general schoolwork.
As a graduate of Oxford I am also available to help prepare for Oxbridge interviews.
My goal is to encourage every student to stretch themselves to the capacity of their ability, and to cover every syllabus comprehensively and in a creative and engaging manner. I believe that a strong collaborative relationship between tutor and student is absolutely fundamental.
I recognise that different children have different strengths and weaknesses, different confidences and insecurities, and I aim to tailor my methods to suit the individual needs of each student, rather than enforcing a rigid, preexisting framework. I strongly believe in the benefits of 1 on 1 attention as a means of instilling confidence and security for a child's own academic self-confidence. This allows her/him to work purely for themselves rather than in competition with others as is all too often encouraged in the classroom.
Through my lessons, I aim to nurture each student's a pride and confidence in their own abilities, regardless of the achievements of their peers.
