I am a creative, enthusiastic and passionate primary school teacher. I believe that all children are entitled to a broad, comprehensive and enjoyable education. With this in mind, I endeavour to tailor my lessons so that they are objective based, building on prior knowledge but also are engaging, interactive and memorable. Away from teaching, I am a happily married, rabbit owning, Wigan Warriors supporting guitar strummer.
Since passing my P.G.C.E. in 2009, I have been teaching in a variety of different capacities. The bulk of my teaching experience has come in KS2, having taught discreetly Year 4 and 5 as well as a mixed Year 3/4 class. However, in my work as a supply teacher I have covered all year group from Reception to Year 6 and I have a good knowledge of the new curriculum. When planning, I differentiate my objectives allowing all children to achieve success and reach expectations. When giving feedback to children, I am always positive pointing out what has done well before then drawing there attention to areas of improvement. I believe that I have a relaxed, engaging but yet firm character which allows pupils to achieve their best.
I offer a relaxed yet rigorous experience. I hope to make pupils feel relaxed and create a calm and honest atmosphere in which both tutor and tutee can focus on making progress. I am friendly, approachable and warm and hope to engender a good relationship with not just the tutee but also their support network as I believe this important for the child to succeed. Within my hour long sessions (possibly shorter for KS1) I will work with your child on the things that they are having difficulties with or need to know to reach an expected standard e.g. meeting expectations for a child in Y4. I willing to teach children from ages 5-11.
