I'm a fully qualified secondary school English teacher and tutor, with experience of teaching in both mainstream schools, grammar schools and tuition centres. I have an extensive background in both one-to-one and group tuition having tutored numerous tutees both privately and on behalf of large tuition agencies, always delivering excellent results.
All students that I worked with towards their GCSE and A-level exams either hit or exceeded their target grades and prospective clients are welcome to contact parents of previous tutees I have worked with in order to ascertain this. The English GCSE grading system changed a couple of years ago, along with the syllabus for some of the major exam boards. It's therefore fundamentally important that parents utilise a tutor with an in depth knowledge and understanding of what these changes are and how they impact on learning in tutorials.
I've worked as a classroom teacher in various secondary schools, teaching English from year 7 right through to A-level. This has been extended with my experience as a one-to-one tutor, where I have tutored students from primary school level for the 11+ (which I have an extensive knowledge of having worked at a grammar school), all the way through to adult learners. I have an in-depth understanding of exam boards and their requirements which I use to create a dedicated learning plan for all students that I tutor. I have also taught English as a foreign language both in the UK and abroad to classes and on a one-to-one basis.
For students working towards exams, I adopt a dual approach of both enhancing subject knowledge along with specific exam preparation, ensuring that students are not only aware of what they need to include in their answers, but how they need to structure them in order to achieve maximum marks.
I look upon tutoring as a career path as opposed to purely a side income, which is why I am dedicated to this role as my source of full time income. This ensures that I am extremely professional in the work that I undertake and spend the time required to fully understand a tutees' needs and requirements, so we can work together to develop an efficient learning plan which will ultimately have quantifiable results. I believe that every student can benefit phenomenally from private tuition, whether it be to simply gain more confidence with a particular subject, or to hit the highest grades possible.
