Personal Description:

Whilst I am relatively new to paid private tutoring I am a fully qualified A-Level Chemistry and Science Teacher with over 17 years’ experience teaching GCSE Science and as a KS4 Head have many hours experience in guiding students in 1:1 situations as well as helping children of family and friends.

Just as importantly I have a track record of success working with students of all abilities at both A-Level and GCSE. Working in a variety of teaching environments from secondary schools to 6th Form and FE Colleges has allowed me to develop a wide range of approaches to help students succeed and my time in the roles of Head Of Chemistry and KS4 Science gives me an invaluable insight into exam preperation and especially preparing students for the new practical focused aspects of current exams.

Tutoring Experience:

Since qualifying in 1999 I have worked in a variety of schools, 6th Form and FE Colleges and have taught successfully across the full age range of 11-18 and Adult Learners. Whilst living in London as Head of Chemistry helped guide students at both GCSE and A_Level to success.

My skills in the classroom were further recognised when I received a fellowship to the Royal College of Teaching and my chosen submitted subject was discussing strategies to help students improve their grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutoring is more than just helping a student with their homework, but about offering individually tailored support to help the student fully achieve their potential.
I enjoy helping students whether this is helping a student push for a higher grade at A-Level or helping a stuggling GCSE student gain the confidence in their own abilities
My strengths as a tutor as my obvious passion for my subject and my ability to explain sometimes difficult concepts in an easily understandable way. I have a relaxed but determined demeanour and my experience as a teacher allows me to not identify the problem but also offer the solution. I can not only offer subject knowledge but also structured and fully planned lessons on any topic A-level Chemistry or GCSE Science topic and help students complete comprehensive revision schedules using my own personal database of resources.
