I am currently a senior medicinal chemist at a biotech company in Stevenage after I graduated from Imperial College in 2016 with an MSci and PhD.
I built a tutoring business while writing my thesis and due to the enjoyment and satisfaction I found in teaching and helping students achieve the grades they wanted, have decided to continue while working in industry.
A core requirement of a PhD is the teaching of undergraduate students. This included personal tutoring to groups of 8 students, lab demonstration of essential techniques, marking of examination papers and personal supervision of the work, safety and well-being of MSci students. I have received awards for my teaching at Imperial College, as well as the personal gratitude of many of the students I have supervised.
In addition, I lead the chemistry department at my job and so have learned the best ways to encourage and promote the best from those I work with.
During my time tutoring I have had many happy and satisfied students and have gained experience in all exam boards, especially the iGCSE and Cambridge Pre-U syllabuses.
As well as my personal lessons, I have students from all over the world, who I teach through Skype and an online whiteboard. These have proven to be popular with students in Singapore and Hong Kong, or with boarding students who can fit in lessons before or after school.
Coming from a highly technical field, my approach to tutoring is through demonstration and examples. Learning is best achieved when the core principles are presented in a memorable way. This has allowed me to explain difficult concepts in ways that are easily understood and remembered.
I am concise, patient and friendly in all of my teaching.
