I am a philosophy PhD candidate at Brown University - one of the eight Ivy League universities in the US. I have a master's degree from Oxford and a First in philosophy and social sciences from Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. I am currently in Paris for research but make frequent trips to London. In the meantime I offer tutoring sessions via Skype/FaceTime.
The first lesson I offer is free. I use it to get to know the student, to understand what they are looking for and to make sure that I am a good fit for them.
I have extensive teaching experience both at the university and pre-university level. I have taught tutorials at Oxford, given my own lecture course at Brown (on the philosophy of love and friendship), and led many tutorial groups at Brown. I have also taught summer courses to pre-university students in Beijing and the US.
The role of a good teacher is to help the student think for themselves. While I break down complex material into comprehensible elements I also place a great emphasis on developing the learning skills of student's so that they can pursue their subjects more and more independently as they go on.
