Personal Description:

Fully qualified Science teacher with QTS since 2013 (5 years teaching experience).
Passionate about Physics and Biology, and just generally all things science related.
I have a 2:1 in BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science.

Tutoring Experience:

Qualified teacher with QTS since 2013 with a PGCE in Secondary Science education from Kings College London (TeachFirst).
Full DBS Check* & verified.

Experienced teacher of both inner London and Outer London challenging schools, with a proven track record of consistently "good" rated lessons.

I have experience of leading science with years 7 to year 11.
I have a full a detailed understanding of all key exam board requirements.

Still currently a full time employed and practising Science teacher, specialising in Physics and Biology up to GCSE (& teaching BTEC level 3 up to 18 years of age).

*DBS check is a Criminal Record Check at Enhanced Disclosure level, often referred to as a Enhanced DBS. This is the highest level required for positions that can involve caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults.

Tutoring Approach:

The focus of these tutoring sessions is to work with the child, for the child, taking a tailored and individual approach to their learning and aiming to understand their struggles and then support them in their learning journey.

My tutoring aims to be engaging but purposeful, with short learning episodes of content followed by practice exam questions to closely monitor progress being made to ensure that all key concepts are fully understood and that the young adult is able to apply their knowledge to specific situations (as per new 9-1 GCSE requirements).

The initial session will be a "get to know you" session (which is at a cost of £15) to thoroughly examine your child (and formally mark it) on their fundamental understanding of physics or biology before we progress on their learning journey, but to also get to know them as an individual and the best ways that they learn to ensure they receive the maximum benefits from this tutoring.

I am a patient tutor, with an ability to make the complicated simple. I am friendly, approachable and try to enthuse tutees into science - so they don't just walk away confident in their knowledge but also with an enjoyment of the subject itself.

I am happy to discuss any questions or queries you may have and welcome your feedback.
